Staying Relevant

Updated: Nov 25, 2022

Welcome to Relevant Youth, a student-run creative agency based in Columbia, Missouri. RY recruits the most promising students from the creative industry and equips them with the experience to become competitive professionals in marketing, advertising and beyond. Taking education from the classroom to the professional landscape allows our members to grow their creative talents and their career skills simultaneously. RY fosters a mindset in our members that helps constantly empower the creative.

Since the beginning, RY has been building momentum, increasing membership and securing relationships with more clients each year. Our company is constantly expanding on the original vision of our co-founders Will Granberry Drew Rogers. At the start of 2020, 110 members, our largest group to date, gathered with new ideas and renewed enthusiasm for what we hoped would be another groundbreaking year. Needless to say that the four short months that unfolded since then have been far from our expectations.

Now, the launch of our website and blog comes during a trying time for all as the COVID-19 crisis shakes our country. Uprooted from our routines and without contact with our peers, losing sight of our goals became a real possibility. However, over the last few weeks our teams have shown incredible resilience in the face of adversity that seems to increase each day. Following the RY mindset, members from every branch of the company have used this time as a way to further empower themselves creatively.

How we’re staying creative…

….digitally: There’s an ever-expanding world of online tools and programs that aim to refine different skills. Now is the perfect time to experiment with new media and editing and creative software. Lately, our members have been loving illustration platforms, taking advantage of free programs currently being offered by Procreate and Bardot Brush. .

..musically: With newfound time on their hands, the Sound by RY team has been able to perfect and launch our brand new Instagram account. Music is one of the best ways we’ve found to feel connected to people despite the isolation. Follow @soundbyry to check out what the team has been listening to, insightful album reviews and curated Spotify playlists.

..verbally: Writing is essential for self-reflection and growth, but is often time consuming and can lack creativity in the context of work or school. With some of those limitations out of the way, members have found ways to stay in touch with their writing skills. Responding to daily writing prompts through subscription projects like “The Isolation Journals” is a fun way to gain a new outlook on our current situation with a sense of solidarity that we’re all experiencing this together. In short, we have been coping in the best way we know how: creating. There’s no doubt that we will come out of this time stronger than before, full of ideas and creative vision. We look forward to sharing it all with you.
